Bike & ... Maccheroncini


This weekend will take you to discover one of the typical artisan products of the Marche region, famous all over the world, so much so that it has obtained the IGP recognition: Maccheroncini di Campofilone. Their production is the manifestation of the popular tradition of the medieval village of the same name, handed down from generation to generation. The ingenuity and imagination of the Campofilonese women were stimulated by the need to make up for the lack of certain foods, such as eggs, not always available during the year. Dried pasta, in fact, was cheaper than fresh pasta because it was kept in cupboards and could be consumed throughout the year. The coarseness of the cut had the drawback of causing the dough to curl, which broke in several places. The "panel" then began to be cut into very thin threads, which did not break. Already in 1400 the Maccheroncini were considered a delicious dish and mentioned in a correspondence from the Abbey of Campofilone, in some documents of the Council of Trent and in the recipe notebooks of some noble houses. But it was with the beginning of the 1900s that housewives and innkeepers in Campofilone began to have Maccheroncini tasted, with their characteristic shape of long and fine threads.

Arrival in the afternoon at the selected B&B and accommodation in the rooms. In the afternoon, visit to an artisan pasta factory for the demonstration of the production of Maccheroncini di Campofilone IGP. Time available for the discovery of the surroundings. Free dinner and overnight stay.


Meeting with the guide and excursion in the gentle hills of the ridge that from Pedaso climbs to the villages of Campofilone and Montefiore dell'Aso. Among orchards, vineyards and olive groves, the views of the sea will be unforgettable. There will be convivial moments with photo stops. Return to accommodation, free lunch. Late check-out at 2.00 pm and departure.
